What You Need To Know About Cleaning Your Ninja Coffee Maker

When your Ninja coffee maker isn’t deep-cleaned regularly, you’ll begin to notice a difference in the taste of your coffee. This is because calcium and magnesium can build up in your machine over time.

Deep-cleaning your coffee maker is done through a process called descaling. This cleans away any build-up in the machine. Then, it can run efficiently and serve you with the quality coffee you expect when you wake up in the morning (or when pouring a cup at night—we aren’t judging!).

In addition to descaling, you’ll also need to clean your coffee maker’s filter, filter holder, and coffee pot after each use and wipe the outside of the machine as needed.

It’s a good idea to disinfect the buttons of your coffee machine regularly as well, especially if it’s located in a public area.

Supplies You’ll Need For Cleaning a Ninja Coffee Maker

To clean your Ninja coffee maker, you will need:

How To Clean a Ninja Coffee Maker (7 Steps)

Step 1: Empty the filter and clean the carafe

First, you’ll want to clean your machine from its last use. Empty the filter and carafe of any remaining coffee and grounds. Then, wash each with soap and water.

While your filter is out, wipe the filter holder with a cloth or paper towel.

Step 2: Mix your descaling solution and water in the reservoir

Use the amount of descaling solution recommended on the label and fill the remainder of the reservoir with water up to the fill line. Do not fill past the fill line.

If you’d like to save money or use a more natural solution, replace your descaling solution with 16 ounces of white vinegar.

Step 3: Replace carafe and filter, then run a clean cycle

Now that it’s all clean, put the carafe back in place to catch your cleaning solution as it cycles through the machine. Replace the reusable filter as well.

There will be a “clean” button on your Ninja coffee maker, which you can press to begin the cycle. This button may be lit if your machine needs a clean.

It should take around 8 minutes to complete the clean cycle.

Step 4: Empty and replace the carafe

Empty the carafe into the sink and replace it for the next step.

Step 5: Run two clean cycles using only water

Once you’ve finished descaling, run two clean cycles using water alone. This is very important as it rinses your descaling solution or white vinegar from the machine.

You’ll have to pour your next pot of coffee out if you miss this step!

Step 6: Clean the carafe with soap and warm water

Once again, wash the carafe in the sink with soap and warm water to get rid of any leftover descaling solution or vinegar that may be leftover in the pot.

Step 7: Wipe the outside of your machine

Lastly, make sure the outside of your coffee maker is good and clean. Use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe all sides of your machine thoroughly.

You may need to wipe the countertop underneath the machine, too, as this can get messy from time to time.

For extra cleanliness, use a disinfecting wipe to clean the buttons of your machine and remove any germs.
